Exams are upon us and no matter how much I dislike them I still have to deal with them for two more years. I have noticed that despite the fact that I have written quite a few study tips on the blog most of them focus on how to study and how to tackle your exam. In this post I decided to go for a different approach, exam stress. This is something many students, like myself , struggle with. Here are 5 simple ways to deal with exam stress.
I know that this one may seem a bit obvious but I have noticed that the more I study the less stressed out I seem. Knowing that you have studied relaxes you in a way. I have heard that studying ahead of time is the key but I am still trying to figure it out.
2. Find a balance
I used to think that exam season meant no time for me to do all my favourite activities but I have come to find that it's all about finding a balance. Creating a schedule can really help a lot and taking your mind off the exams for a short period of time can help reduce stress.
3. Stay healthy
During exam time we tend to focus on school work and our marks that we forget to take care of ourselves. It's important to remember to eat healthy, drink lots of water, get enough sleep and never forget that school is never more important than your mental health.
4. Be confident
When entering an exam we can find ourselves questioning our abilities. Did I study enough? Will I be able to to pass this exam? Believing in yourself can be hard but knowing that you have prepared your best can help you do your best.
5. Sometimes things don't go away
There are times when an exam doesn't go exactly as we plan and yes, it is heartbreaking but no matter how terrible it may be we need to remember that there is nothing we can do about it. What we need to do let it all out and then work on a new strategy to better ourselves. It's not always easy but it has to be done.
Wishing you all the best for your exams! You got this!
