As the school holidays approach I could not be happier. Not only do I get a break but I finally have the opportunity to paint my nails. It has been my tradition for the longest time, I don't remember the last time I spent time off school with my nails bare.
This past weekend my sister and I set on a quest for the right shade of nail varnish for the season. She is lucky because she gets to wear nail polish at college but nevertheless she has been that high school struggle. We finished the day on a successful note coming home with two bottles each but in our household sharing is caring. I guess you could say I came home with four new shades of nail polish, what's hers is mine. I will be sharing two of those with you today
We started off our quest searching for some pastel hues but things turned out a little different. We felt like some of the colours did not complement on skin tones. After a few hours and disagreements (it was extremely serious indeed) we picked a charcoal shade and and bluish shade.
The charcoal, grey colour is not something I would usually go for but there's something about this hue that has grabbed my attention. To me it seems like the perfect alternative to a pastel shade. It somewhere between pastel and metallic and that is what's hot right now.
The other nail polish is a mix between green and blue. It reminds of the ocean and I were to name it, it would be called 'The heart of the ocean". The reason behind that being the fact that we are currently watching and analysing Titanic in English class, a very beautiful yet sad movie if I may add, and the necklace Cal gives Rose is called "The heart of the ocean". Whenever I glance at the bottle of nail polish I just see the necklace. If you have no idea what I am talking about just Google it or do me(yourself) a favour and watch the movie. The nail polish also contains tiny specks of glitter and you know how I feel about glitter.
This nail polish is of a very high quality, two coats of the varnish will do the trick. For the best results wait for the first coat to dry completely before applying the second. The nail polish dries rather quickly and I have come to the conclusion that, that is my favourite quality of any nail polish. I mean who can even deal with smudges. Last yet not least well it is the least but you want it to be that way because it's the price. The Vixen Nail Lacquer is available at Ackermans for only R19, 95. Which wraps up this post beautifully and makes me way more excited for the upcoming school holidays, no matter how short they may be.
